Rootset exposes Streamable HTTP MCP at https://your-api-origin/mcp. Use the same API origin as REST; do not point MCP clients at the UI.

OAuth-capable clients

Add Rootset as a remote MCP server using the /mcp URL. Follow the client’s OAuth sign-in flow, sign in to Rootset, and review the requested access. The approved scopes are bounded by your current workspace role. Manage connections in Account Settings → MCP connections.

Clients supporting a bearer header

Create a personal or team API key. Configure the remote URL and an Authorization: Bearer <your-key> header through the client’s secret configuration. Client syntax varies; keep the key out of checked-in config files.

Work with a table

Ask the client to discover the workspace, list databases and tables, and read the table schema before querying or creating rows. MCP tools share the REST contract and permissions. Schema changes, exports and deletion can return jobs; inspect their status before treating the operation as complete. Read-only keys cannot edit records. Edit keys cannot delete databases or tables. Administrative automation keys can execute those operations directly; browser-only identity confirmation is not an approval ticket for MCP.
